This article describes everything there is to know about Bid Agents and explains how to use them successfully. First off - What are they?
Bid Agents help you in the bidding process and makes sure that you don't miss a great deal. You set a start and end level for your Bid Agent on the individual item's page. You also have to assign a number of bids to each agent. When the price of the item reaches the start level you have set, the agent will start bidding. It will continue to do so, when it is in turn, until it either, hopefully, wins the auction for you or it reaches its end level. When it has run out of bid it can of course also not place more bids. If the price has gone above the end level you set but it still has credits to spare you will of course get them back. Simply remove the agent and your account will be credited with the remaingin bids. You manage your Bid Agents under the menu item My Bid Agents.
How many bid will it place? All agents that are created and are bidding are put in a sort of bidding queue, where the first one in line gets to place a bid. After having done so it is placed at the end of the queue. That way all agents will take turns in bidding. The more agents that are involved, the less often each one bids, clearly. Note that two or more agents from the same user is counted as separate bidders and will place more bids than others. They will however never bid over other agents of the same user. Taking this into account it is very important to set the levels and the number of bids for the agent. With a start level of e.g. £10 and an end level of £12 (i.e. 20 steps) at the most 10 bids are needed, as it maximum can place every other bid. Make sure that your Agent has enough bids, and that you have the proper levels set. Some tactics
Generally it's a good idea to stay away from the auction if there are three or more agents bidding. This you can easily see from the bid history. In these cases it is highly probably that another agent will place a bid above yours. But as only two or three agents are active you should make your move as the auction could end at any minute. As soon as there is only one agent left the auction may end immediately. Engage your agent with clever settings and make sure to be the highest bidder.
Usually agents stop at round numbers, like £10, £50 and so on. Make sure to cover these transitions with an Agent. It may pay off.
Try to get to know the auction items and the other users. Auctions usually end at more or less the same level. Monitor the behaviour of your competitors, see how they place their bids and try to understand when the right time to place a bid has entered. The best of Luck to you in your bidding! Product range
Most auctions on the site are shared with the Swedish sister site en-krona.se. Here we have sold thousands of items since the start in May 2008. Sharing items between the sites means that we can provide a wider product range. We always adjust the number of auctions online to keep the prices low and attractive. Users from both sites have equal chances to win. Currently the swedish site has a more users and therefore represent most of the winners. |
